We are excited to announce a new mini-series on the Student Voice Podcast, focusing on the power of cultural identity for African students on campus. This important discussion will be led by fellow DC Future Scholar Iris Thompson-Pelham, who brings her unique and inspiring perspective to the table.
Originally from Sierra Leone, West Africa, Iris is a committed nursing professional currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of the District of Columbia. Her journey exemplifies resilience, adaptability, and a deep dedication to community service. Through this mini-series, Iris will explore how cultural identity shapes the experiences of African students in higher education and its role in fostering a sense of belonging and success.
This initiative is proudly supported by the DC Office of African Affairs, highlighting the importance of amplifying the voices and experiences of African students in our community.
